The African Executive Editorial Policy and Guidelines

The African Executive (AE), a publication of the Inter Region Economic Network (IREN), is the market leader in opinion on Africa's socio- political and economic development. The African Executive is registered in Kenya as a newspaper and  runs every Wednesday. The core purpose of The AE is to promote prosperity among African people.

History

The magazine was established in 2005. The magazine traces its roots to James Shikwati's weekly opinion pieces that were circulated to subscribed list of members in 2001 - 2002. The weekly circulation of this opinion pieces was changed to an IREN Kenya Newsletter (2002 - 2005) which later transformed into The African Executive Magazine that accommodates wider opinion and reviews on issues about Africa.

The AE strives to reflect a wide range of opinion and analysis on issues that affect Africa. We encourage debate as long as there are good editorial reasons for doing so. The AE also welcomes review of books relevant to Africa, reports, research findings as well as announcements on issues of interest to Africa.

The AE will under no circumstance surrender editorial control to or be influenced by political, commercial or personal interests.

Articles

Articles accepted for publication are selected on the basis of their relevance to Africa's development, facts, accuracy, balance, originality, creativity, readability, interest level, timeliness, freshness of viewpoint, regional context, identification of problems facing Africa and provision of relevant answers.

Articles may vary in length from 800 words to 1,400 words and should include a brief author biographical sketch (name, title, affiliation, address, and phone number) as a sign of good faith.

Authors submit their respective articles to The African Executive voluntarily. The African Executive will not pay for unsolicited articles.

Although attempts are made to preserve the author's writing style, The AE has the right to edit for style, clarity, space allotment, and to make final selection on headlines, subheads, and graphic treatment.
