Theme: Turning Africa People into a Resource
Date: November 26–29, 2006
Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge
An annual event for Africans and friends of Africa keen on a better Africa
For a long time, Africa’s people have been viewed as a “time bomb”, waiting to explode. While some view them as the “white man’s burden”, others look at them as a huge market-an-engine to Africa’s wealth. Others would rather talk about a “shackled continent”. It is in this regard that the 4th Africa Resource Bank Conference focuses on “Turning African People into a Resource.”
The deadline for registration for the 4th Africa Resource Bank is October 24, 2006. The registration fee of US$300 is payable to Inter Region Economic Network. The fee can be paid either by check or in cash at the IREN office desk on or before Nov 26, 2006. Please fill in the registration form on http://www.irenkenya.org/. Registration fee is compulsory.
Participants who are interested in making presentations are asked to mail topic, summary of the paper, and a brief bio about themselves by October 24, 2006, to enable the organizing committee to include your views in the brainstorming document that will be circulated to all registered participants. Each author will be allowed 10 minutes to defend his/her views at the conference. IREN will publish ‘Reclaiming Africa – 2’ from the views raised in this meeting. Schedule of events will be posted on all the IREN websites.
Self-sponsored participants: You will be required to pay for your accommodation and extras directly to the hotel before checking out. The charges are US$ 138 - conference package per day. Kindly note that the charges are subject to foreign exchange fluctuations.
Sponsored participants: Only full board accommodation (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is catered for in this package. You must pay any extras directly to the hotel before checking out.
