Fashion Tips for the End-Year Party

Published on 18th December 2007

It is another year-end and your company is throwing a party. You are too tired and your head is weighed down. The last thing you want to worry about is how to dress for the event.  However, there are two or three people that you must impress this time. It might be your boss or this colleague that you think can make a good partner.

Such are the predicaments that most people go through when the year draws to a close. For some, it is a moment of bliss because they do not bother who is watching them. They attend the dinner party dressed like they passed-by the party en-route to space!

But you are the kind who seeks to impress, captivate and set standards. Last year, you played around with your all-black look and managed to lift a few eyebrows. This year you have no idea where to begin and how to do it because, just as years seem to move faster these days, so are the changing times and trends. When the year began, you probably had resolutions for and against some styles in your wardrobe. But as you approach November, the styles you detested then are now the in thing.

Maybe you resolved never to wear black trousers, red shirts, yellow blazers or navy blue skirts. You got rid of them. Now, you have to figure another way out since the option of presenting yourself as a saleable brand is inevitable.Does this describe your situation? Read on.

Wear something that makes you smile

The expression on your face will always bring to the fore all that is within you. Whether you wear an animal-print blouse or a classic ash-grey evening dress, let it be something that brings a smile on your face. It should be something that you are proud to be associated with. Lifting your mood boosts your energy and makes you look more refreshed.

Touch-up with some cologne

A sweet scent has a way of lifting you to another level. Fresh perfume for the evening will transform the ever-introvert CEO to a pleasant John or Mary that people never knew. Carving yourself an image of conformity while in a crowd will elevate your mood in an instant.

Adorn your favorite color

Adorn your favourite color; whether it is baby pink, ocean blue, sunset orange or charcoal black. It is a scientific fact that surrounding ourselves with our favorite colors makes us feel and look better.

Keeping rules

Some event organizers will emphasize on dress codes. You're not alone if you have trouble deciphering dress codes on a party invitation. Most people get confused by designations as ambiguous as "Dress Casual" or "Cocktail Attire." A few dress items span several categories - such as the little black dress for her or dark suit for him - both of which can attend every event from semi-formal to cocktail parties. Create a unique look for yourself within the specified category and don’t feel out of place.

Remember, everyone at the event is not sure whether or not they are dressed right.Yours might be the right thing. Keep your face bright.  Dine and dance the night or day out. Keep these easy fashion tricks in mind the next time you need  something extra to help pull you through the day. Finally, check out who is wearing what you think you should have worn. Such ideas will come in handy for you next year.
