For the first time in history the FIFA World Cup 2010 is being held in Africa. Over 300,000 people from all over the world will gather in South Africa to watch the game while millions will watch it from their television sets across the world. The building of stadiums alone has created over 130 000 jobs. SA Breweries (SAB) on the other hand estimates that the demand for beer will rise by 4 to 6 percent during the five-week World Cup period.

With all eyes focusing on Africa, the impact of the FIFA World Cup in Africa will be felt for over five years after the game is over.  This is due to among other developments the building and refurbishing of hotels, stadiums, airports and railway systems. The impact is expected to spread to other African countries through business relations with South Africa.

How can individual Kenyan and other African businessmen leverage on this golden opportunity?
