Hermetic Bags Can Save Africa’s Grains

Post harvest grain losses in Sub Saharan Africa are estimated at $ 4 billion per year. According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, the lost food can meet a minimum requirement to feed 48 million people (FAO.org; accessed February 25, 2012). Post harvest grain losses; lack of access to and unpredictable market systems on the continent are disincentives to African farmers.
