The 5th IREN Eastern Africa Thought Leaders Forum
Theme: Africa’s Elusive Asset: The Mind as the Ultimate Capital
Venue: Naivasha, Kenya
Date: August 12 – 15, 2015

As an emerging business hub, Africa faces unique challenges in attaining growth in bankable ideas, human resource development and a sense of obligation. The theme for the 5th IREN Eastern Africa Thought Leaders Forum will focus on “Africa’s Elusive Asset: The Mind as the Ultimate Capital.” This forum will discuss the mind as the ultimate capital, identify concrete ways to activate the African mind to create societal progress, map out ideas that can enable Africans to utilize their intellectual capabilities to produce useful products and facilitate the meeting of mind and money to attract success. Influential thought leaders will discuss their experiences, as well as the perceptions, strategies, and opportunities for Africa.

Each year, the IREN Eastern Africa Thought Leaders Forum brings together academics, professionals, diplomats, business leaders, and government officials to brainstorm on key issues that face Africa. For more information contact Ms. Zaina [email protected]

Background

The Inter Region Economic Network (IREN) initiated an Eastern Africa Thought Leaders Forum in August 2011 to identify strategies to enable East Africans organically evolve their own socio-economic and political systems and to nurture futuristic thinkers. Previous forums focused on how East Africans can position themselves to benefit from the Cape to Cairo Free Trade Zone; Essential elements for African leadership in the Global Jungle; African Indigenous Games of Strategy and Africa’s Core Interests: How to make Africans’ Dreams Valid.

The Inter Region Economic Network is a leading independent African think tank that promotes ideas and strategies geared towards causing prosperity in Africa through free enterprise and sound public policy. IREN's key platforms include targeted events, trainings, research, consultancy, communication and through its flagship magazine The African Executive - published in English every Wednesday. The IREN Philosophy is “A Free Human Mind is the Ultimate Capital!"
