IREN 11TH Bukura Enterprise Exhibition and Cultural Event to be held on 19th December 2015 at Bukura Primary School

The IREN Bukura Annual Cultural event was first held in December 2005. Since then IREN has held the cultural event annually with the intention of improving productivity and positive exposure for youth in Western Kenya.  

The cultural event opened up to include enterprise exhibitions last year and is open for participation by people across the country. For the last ten years guest speakers have been drawn from the academia, performing artists, government officials, business people and Diaspora Kenyans. 

The IREN 11TH Bukura Enterprise Exhibition and Cultural Event will feature over 30 agribusiness related enterprise exhibitions (60%), Luhya cultural dances and sports (20%) and culinary arts competition (20%). The 1 day event will demonstrate the interconnectedness of players along the agricultural value chains for purposes of promoting investment, job creation and productivity in the agribusiness sector in Kakamega County.

The objectives of the event

This year’s event aims to celebrate culture, entrepreneurial acumen and productivity. This will be done through: Enable participating youth to stimulate sustainable enterprises and talent that attract potential investors and stakeholders; Expose and mentor youth-owned enterprises by equipping them with skills to run sustainable enterprises along the agribusiness value chain.

Eligibility

To participate in the enterprise exhibitions and culinary arts competition:-

•Kakamega  County youth aged 18 - 40 years for the agribusiness enterprise exhibition
•Submit brief description about the enterprise( business profile)
•A picture of the enterprise/ product
•For culinary arts competition category A anyone aged (18 – 24 years) while category B hotel chefs aged (20 – 35 years)

Deadline for submission of entries to exhibition is 20th November, 2015
