Kenya in Singapore for SIFE World Cup 2008

Moi University, the 2008 SIFE Kenya National Champions are in Singapore to represent Kenya in the SIFE World Cup 2008. University students from over 46 countries from all over the world will battle it out for the SIFE 2008 champion in the event that will run from October1-3.
Moi University triumphed over 13 other Kenyan university teams to emerge the 2008 SIFE Kenya National Champions. Despite the post election violence that hit the country early this year, the team still managed to run successful projects that positively impacted the community around their university in Eldoret town.
Nyambura Koigi (MD Postbank and Chairperson of the SIFE Kenya Business Advisory Council ) flagged off the team in her office on 29th September. During the event, Ms Nyambura congratulated the team and wished them well. ‘Bring the SIFE World Cup to Kenya; you have what it takes to be the world Champions,’ she told the team. ‘Postbank is proud to be associated with SIFE Kenya and we will continue supporting the young entrepreneurs in future,’ she added.
James Shikwati (SIFE Kenya Coordinator) also congratulated the team and wished them well as they showcase their entrepreneurial skills to the world. He thanked SIFE Kenya partners-especially postbank- for their support for SIFE programs in Kenya. ‘ To add more value to our activities, in January 2009, SIFE Kenya will host a SIFE Career and Opportunity Fair where the business commnunity will have the chance to showcase their products and interact with young entrepreneurs from 14 universities in Kenya,’ he added.
Speaking at the event, the President of SIFE Moi, Samsom Kirigua, thanked the business community for their support and encouragement. “We are immensely excited to be Kenya's flagbearers in the SIFE World Cup. We will bring victory home,’ he said.
SIFE Kenya was launched in 2003 and operates in 14 universities throughout the Country. SIFE Kenya aims at empowering people through the creation of economic opportunities by effectively linking the academia, business and communities in general. This is done through students’ outreach projects that focus on Market Economics, Business Ethics, Success Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy and Sustainability.
