IREN Intra- East Africa Farmer Exchange Programme

The ongoing maize shortage, the regional staple food puts to test the ability of the government to plan and ensure food security for its citizenry. Farmers across the region are still complaining of poor profits from their products while consumers can hardly afford food.

Can farmers exchange ideas on how to make their products profitable, ensure food security without always depending on the government for assistance?

To facilitate the exchange of ideas among farmers, The Inter Region Economic Network (IREN) will be launching an intra East Africa farmer exchange program. Phase 1 of this program will target farmers from East, West and Central Kenya.
