Disturbing images of starving people are unfortunately, images of real people - human beings. The human causative element of famine (geopolitics) in The Horn of Africa must be addressed to ensure long term solution (Cbc.ca; accessed July 27, 2011). Famine ravaging this region is a resultant effect of mismanagement of political systems and natural resources (Wsj.com; accessed July 27, 2011).

Time has come for Africans and members of the international community to hold leadership in this region to account. Famine in The Horn of Africa puts leaders in the region on trial.
