In spite of Africa’s rich history of indigenous games, a number of them have become extinct without documentation in the continent’s historical and anthropological accounts of the indigenous people of Africa.
 
African Indigenous Games of Strategy have the potential to impact on the continent’s socio-economic arena in such areas as African identity; cultural diversity; education and training; accessibility of resources; international relations and economic growth. Unfortunately these games have largely been ignored even as Africans seek to table organic solutions in the global market arena.

It is with this in mind that The Inter Region Economic Network (IREN) is honored to host the 3rd IREN Think Tank Forum for Eastern Africa Thought Leaders on “African Indigenous Games of Strategy” that will map out African indigenous games of strategy; identify elements of strategy in African indigenous games and link the strategic elements identified to business and development in Africa. Thought leaders drawn from Business, Public Policy, Military, Think Tanks, Media  and Academia will spend three days to brainstorm on this next week.

The Inter Region Economic Network (IREN) initiated an Eastern Africa Thought Leaders forum in August 2011 to identify strategies that will enable East Africans to organically evolve their own socio-economic and political systems and to nurture futuristic thinkers. Previous forums focused on how East Africans can position themselves to benefit from the Cape to Cairo Free Trade Zone and essential elements for African leadership in the global jungle.
