African farmers should study the predicament of their Asian counterparts
The demand for food by Africa's middle class population is projected to hit USD 400 billion by 2030 (Ipsnews.net; accessed August 21, 2013). The growing demand for food in Africa and the rest of the world will increase focus on the continent’s 60% untilled arable land. The process of converting Africa’s arable land into productive use may bring along safety challenges.
