East Africa Domestic Textile Market Forum

Published on 6th May 2014

The Inter Region Economic Network (IREN) in collaboration with Hamburg based Cotton made in Africa Initiative (CmiA) hosted a forum for industry and retailers to discuss ways to activate domestic textile market in East Africa. The CmiA initiative has already sold over 20 million units of garments in Europe and sourced cotton from over 500,000 smallholder farmers in Sub Saharan Africa. The Nairobi meeting focused on how to make East Africa cotton value chain efficient; promote value addition and production of quality finished units through a network of industry and retailers.
