On  the  occasion  of  the  World  Refugee  Day  on  20  June  2014,  German Ambassador to  Kenya, ANDREAS PESCHKE, issued the following statement:
 
“We are very grateful to Kenya and Kenyans for their immense solidarity of hosting so many refugees in their country. We  all  know  about  the  burden  of  providing  safety,  food  and  shelter  to  one  of  the largest  refugee  communities  in  the  world.  Germany  appreciates  very  much  the Kenyan effort and will continue to support Kenya to meet these challenges.  On World Refugee Day, we must also remember that the rule of law and respect for human  rights  is  paramount  in  coping  with  the  refugee  situation.  We  are  in  close
contacts  with  the  UNHCR  in  Kenya  and  with  the  Kenyan  authorities  on  this question.”
