Africa Must Put Its House in Order

The UN Secretary General’s castigation of Africa should send the continent’s statesmen back to the drawing table. Ban Ki-moon  observes that  the continent’s failure to get a slot in the UN security council is attributable to the continent’s  weak proposal  and lack of a united front.

Africans need to be guided by galvanizing core interests in order to enhance the continent’s shared values; purpose for existence; efficiency and African agency. This will enable them evolve thought leadership and practical joint African positions in the wake of numerous Bi-multilateral initiatives.

Forming the bulk of the UN General Assembly’s membership alone does not matter. The continent needs strategy that bears in mind its prosperity, peace and the welfare of all its citizenry.
