Enactus Kenya to Host the 14th National Business Exposition

Enactus Kenya will host its 14th National Exposition come July 14-15, 2016 at KCB Leadership Centre in Nairobi. Since 2003, Enactus Kenya has hosted 13 National Business and Entrepreneurship Competitions and participated in 13 international competitions that involve university undergraduate students. This year, over 30 Enactus Kenya affiliate universities will converge to showcase the achievements of their community outreach projects to a panel of business leaders. An estimated 100 business leaders, 60 university faculty members and 3,000 students will participate in the competition. Enactus Kenya has 3,054 registered student members.

“This is a great opportunity for students to interact with potential employers, universities with business and for business leaders to share leadership skills with Kenyan youth. I look forward to this historical event given the high number of interested participants,” said James Shikwati, Enactus Kenya Country Leader. The objectives of the 14th Enactus Kenya Expo include: to identify a university with high impact community outreach project to represent Kenya in competitions in Canada; offer universities an opportunity to show case their innovations; offer students employability skills training and discuss topical issues that impact on business and the future of Kenya. Competing teams will showcase the type, quality, depth and impact of their community empowerment outreach projects. Business leaders serving as judges in designated leagues will determine which Enactus team will be named the 2016 National Champion to represent the Country at the Enactus World Cup in Toronto, Canada in September 2016.

Topical issues on challenges facing different industries in business and how to address them will also be discussed by business leaders and consultants selected from various industries in Kenya in the forum. Company and Career Booths, Student Project and Cultural exhibitions, University Team Exhibitions among others will also take place. The whole process will provide an opportunity for collaboration, sharing of knowledge between business leaders, academia and universities and foster innovation as well as excellence in community leadership.

Enactus Kenya annual activities include: Leadership Trainings, Team Buildings, On Campus events, Thematic Events, Annual National Business and Entrepreneurship Competition and Mentorship Programs, among others.

Enactus mission is to create a partnership between business and higher education and equip students with innovative ideas that attract investment through community projects, knowledge sharing and competitions. Enactus Kenya operates under a Business Advisory Council that comprises 14 members.
