Enactus Kenya has facilitated skills development for over 4,500 undergraduate students through experiential learning. This has been achieved through community projects, training and annual national and international competitions organized by Enactus Kenya for the last 15 years. Enactus Kenya is organizing their 15th Enactus Kenya National Expo that has attracted 18 universities (both public and private) to identify a champion that will represent Kenya in London (UK) from September 26-29, 2017.  Launched in 2002, Enactus Kenya operates under an MOU between the Inter Region Economic Network (IREN) and Enactus Worldwide. The Enactus Kenya platform forms a foundation where students gain necessary skills to participate in Start-ups, SMEs and Technology Innovation initiatives.

In 2016, students from Moi University worked with a local community to increase sources of income with a unique eco-friendly “chick jiko” hatchery for indigenous chicken to promote small scale poultry farming in Uasin Gishu County. Through collaborative efforts, the team worked with 60 chick-preneurs to set up 10 enterprises and taught them basic financial literacy skills, planning for future investments, resource utilization and marketing.

Enactus African Nazarene University students created a system that offers reward points that can be used to buy goods in the local supermarkets in exchange for recyclable waste such as plastic bottles to ensure a clean and sustainable environment.

Enactus University of Eldoret students created a cold storage unit dubbed “Faida Mazao”   that increases the shelf life of farm produce by 21 days hence enabling farmers to store their surplus, minimize waste and achieve maximum profit.

The 15th Enactus Kenya Expo will feature: Enactus Students Project Presentation, Alumni forum on “The Great Acceleration: Plugging into the fast paced World after Campus,” Enactus Kenya President’s Forum on “Navigating Campus Life in the Age of Information Overload,” Action Leaders Forum on “Leadership in Times of Greed: Success through Values” and Awards Ceremony.

Enactus Kenya operates in 34 universities (16 private universities and 18 public universities) across Kenya. Organizations and corporate entities participate through strategic partnerships to offer value to both the students and the respective organizations.
