On June 8, 2018,  a panel of carefully selected business leaders serving as judges at the 16th Enactus Kenya National Expo selected a champion to represent Kenya at the Enactus World Cup in San Jose, California in October 2018.  This 16th edition of Enactus Kenya National Expo attracted 24 universities (both public and private) across Kenya.

Launched in 2002, Enactus Kenya operates under an MOU between the Inter Region Economic Network (IREN) and Enactus Worldwide. Enactus Kenya offers students a platform where they gain necessary skills to participate in Start-ups, SMEs and Technology Innovation initiatives.  Enactus Kenya has facilitated skills development for over 4,500 undergraduate students through experiential learning. This has been achieved through community projects, training and annual national and international competitions.

Enactus JOOUST captured first place with their “Panda Kenya” project which aims at combating climate change through increased forest cover and use of alternative Source of Renewable Energy to offset Charcoal Burning.

Enactus Egerton NTC came in second with their “Dumisha Afya” project. The team developed fortified flour containing 90% of nutrients required nutrients by cancer patients. They supply this to cancer patients through Nakuru Hospice medical center.

Enactus University of Eldoret came in third place with their project dubbed “EcoStraws KE” that attempts to reduce plastic pollution by getting rid of  plastic drinking straws and replacing them with cheap, efficient, reusable and eco-friendly bamboo straws.

"The kind of entrepreneural skills I have seen displayed among the competing youth is an indicator that Kenya has a great future. I urge corporates to work with these young people to enable them realize their dreams and transform our societies," says Enactus Kenya Business Advisory Council Chair, Mr. Kinyua M’Mbijjewe.

Enactus Kenya operates in 34 universities (16 private universities and 18 public universities) across Kenya. Organizations and corporate entities participate through strategic partnerships to offer value to both the students and the respective organizations.
