Nathan Etengu Passes On

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Nathan Etengu. Etengu has been The New Vision bureau chief in Mbale, Eastern region of Uganda for 15 years. Etengu, who survived a motor accident in November 2007 succumbed to a short illness on Sunday 17th in Soroti. He is survived by a widow and nine children.

 

Etengu 55, has attended several events hosted by IREN including the 5th Eastern Africa Media Training held in Nairobi under the theme ‘Turning Africa’s People into a Resource.’

 

From all of the wonderful things we've shared with him, Nathan will always be remembered as a hero and a very remarkable man.  May God provide his family with comfort in their time of sorrow. - Veni Swai the Program Officer FNF Tanzania

 

Besides being skilful at photojournalism, Etengu was friendly and fatherly. I’ll remember him for constantly reminding me to always offer the best in whatever I did, when I had the opportunity. “Work and offer the best you can today for there may be no tomorrow,” he would advice.- Purity Njeru, Former Editor, The African Executive.
