American Elections: Go Obama Go!

Published on 14th October 2008

“That one.” This is how in the midst of a heated debate McCain referred to Obama. If there is anyone who doesn’t need introduction as That One, it is Obama.

The second town-hall-style presidential debate was a must-win-event for McCain. Did he win it? No! With poll after poll suggesting his dwindling chance at the presidency, he had to come out swinging at this town hall debate, but you can only swing if there is a target. Obama denied him that; and in return, Sen. McCain found himself to be the punch bag.

No bias here. I think McCain did fine, but there are winners and losers in this, and he came out on the wrong side. By now, I hardly doubt that anyone would need anymore debate. What we have seen in this election, for all the hoopla about ‘experience’ is that America is now, more than any other time, ready for change.

Judgment is the key here. And Obama is loaded with it. Obama’s crisp delivery on his debates, his pack-leader attitude, as well as his ability to find a way to come out on top on everything we have seen so far, shows clearly that - this is a man who can be trusted with America’s ship with him as its Captain.

For all the fuss about Obama’s lack of experience, he sure knows how to run a successful campaign, win debates, and stand on his own ground against the best of them. America threw its most experienced and talented politicians on Obama’s way but Obama stomped all of them. With less than a month to go, the republicans had ramped up their attack on Obama. Hillary had tried it and you know what happened. Mrs. Sarah Palin dug her own grave and she is still trying to crawl out of it.

The latest Obama lead in the polls is not unexpected. When like Senator McCain did, you pick up a number two like Governor Palin for purely political reasons, you are doomed to beat your own self. Where is the leadership ability in that one McCain?  I see no rational behind it except maybe some Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
