The BOOST Fellowship programme has been launched in style in Mukumu Girls in western Kenya. Established in 2000 in Zimbabwe, The BOOST Fellowship is an economic empowerment program for young people in Sub-Saharan Africa aged between 13 and 30. The program is designed to cultivate the next generation of entrepreneurial innovators, financial and managerial leaders to help shape a successful future for their countries and the entire continent

The BOOST  Fellowship Club-Mukumu Girls now has 44 members. Some of the school students and teachers were part of the delegation of over 80 others who underwent special BOOST training in enterpreneurship in May this year at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

Speaking on phone from Nairobi, the Guest of Honour, Mr. James Shikwati (Director, Inter Region Economic Network) emphasised the need for each member to make an impact on the lives of others wherever they go. “Change begins with an individual, the greatest capital human beings have is the mind. It’s a resource that should be used exhaustively,” he said.

Mr. Shikwati mentioned that the club would soon receive its East Africa Coordinator, Miss Judith Auma, who is   based in Uganda. He also said that the students would benefit from The BOOST- IREN students exchange programme, an annual programme that sends East African Students on visits to Zimbabwe.

The launch also saw the election of Mr. Ameyo Benard and Mr. Senerwa as the Club patrons, Carol Mokami as the Chairlady assisted by Linda Ayinga mudeizi. The club members pledged to stay a focussed and competitive part of the BOOST Initiative in the region
