The 6th Bukura Cultural Day: Celebrating Youth Energy

The 6th Bukura Cultural Day, an annual event geared towards empowering the youth's vision will be held on December 24, 2010 Bukura, Kenya.

IMWO Agrovets, The Rural Youth Empowerment League in collaboration with the Inter Region Economic Network (IREN) welcome you to the 6th Bukura Cultural day. The annual cultural day’s objective is to enable young people to have higher ambitions, get exposed to global trends, celebrate their youthful energies, nurture talent and assist in tackling problems of insecurity. Launched in 2005 December, the annual event has brought together an estimated 4,000 participants aged between 4 to 90 years.

The key activities of the Annual Bukura Cultural event include: Boda Boda Bicycle racing, soccer, volley ball, netball, tug-o-war, running in gunny bags, balancing bottles, poetry reciting (primary school age), coral/solo verses, essay writing competition, public speaking, children's games, foods and seeds display, Eshilemba (re-enacting old warfare), Sukuti dance, narration of Luhya History, and key note address from guest speakers.

The cultural event guest speakers have been drawn from high school headteachers, Luhyas based in U.S.A, Office of the President - Ministry for Youth Affairs officials, and experts on agriculture and malaria control program. This year, we will host a top officer from Syngenta East Africa Ltd.
