Rich Nations Waste Food as Africa Starves

As wealthy countries waste food, the poor ones loose food! In its report “Global Food Losses and Food Waste” (FAO.org; accessed May 16, 2011), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations indicate that rich nations waste 222 million tonnes of food per year. The amount of food wasted by wealthy nations is close to the net food production (at 230 million tonnes) in sub Saharan Africa.
