Theme: Crafting East Africa's Future
When: 26 -28 August 2011
Venue: Lake Bogoria Spa Resort, Kenya
East Africa's menu is full with both positive and negative developments. East African Community member states are upbeat to meet their targets in their stated visions. The East African Community is now a member of an $800 billion free trade zone that stretches from Cape Town to Cairo. On the other hand, rising food prices, the catastrophic impact of climate change, land grabs by developed nations, rising population and political upheavals threaten the region's stability. How can the East Africans navigate around these? How can East Africans re-orient their mindset away from dependency on donor aid and food insecurity towards individual citizen productivity initiative?
East African thought leaders under invitation by Inter Region Economic Network (IREN) will carry out a two day brainstorming workshop on crafting East Africa's future. For more information, send mail to zaina@irenkenya.com and cc events@irenkenya.com.
