Famine in Africa: Population not to blame

To tame famine episodes Africa policy makers must deliberately exclude reliance on natural forces from their game plan and invest in farmers’ capabilities to be productive. This calls for adoption of science and technology to scale up efficient food production (nytimes.com; accessed August 24, 2011). The culture of blaming amorphous forces (without holding individuals to account) and over reliance on uncontrollable forces of nature subjects poor countries to famine episodes.
