Climate Change: Address Neglected Foods

Indigenous African crops are in urgent need of protection from the negative impact caused by climate change. The United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organisation has called for urgent attention towards neglected crops such as minor millets, yam, cassava and ground nuts (Voanews.com; accessed November 27, 2011). The Commission on Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change has called for inclusion of “food security” on the menu of Climate Talks in Durban (The Sydney Morning Herald; accessed November 27, 2011).
