Moi University School of Business and Economics hosted a curriculum review workshop to seek input from industry and government. The university reviews its curriculum after every 4 years and is set to announce new programmes as soon as the varsity senate gives the greenlight.
The University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Richard Mibei urged the department heads and faculty to design a curriculum that meets international standards and enables students to respond to Kenya’s needs. The Enactus Kenya Country Director, Mr. James Shikwati, urged university curriculum designers in Africa to re-evaluate the traditional approach that tailors programs to the known markets. He suggested that university curriculums be designed to prepare graduates for the unpredictable world. “Moi University School of Business and Economics should invest to become top-tier and avoid serving as a mere implementation agent of ideas generated elsewhere,” Mr. Shikwati said. He pointed out the need for the school to evolve thought leadership in the region and prepare adequately for the emerging world order. He later handed over copies of the book “China-Africa Partnership: The quest for a win-win relationship” to the Vice Chancellor and members of faculty.
