Background

SIFE is the world’s largest university based organization operating in over 1800 campuses in 46 countries. SIFE Kenya was launched on February 21, 2003 and has expanded from 5 universities in 2003 to 15 in 2006. The main goal of SIFE Kenya is to empower people through the creation of economic opportunities by offering a more effective linkage between the academia, business and communities in general. This is done through students’ outreach projects that focus on Market Economics, Business Ethics, Success Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy and Sustainability. All SIFE activities culminate to a National Entrepreneurial Competition Judged by business people with the best team advancing for International Entrepreneurship Competition (The SIFE World Cup). ). We successfully represented Kenya in the 2003 (Mainz, Germany), 2004 (Barcelona, Spain) and 2005 (Toronto, Canada) SIFE World Cups.

14 university teams are expected to compete this year from 15 universities enrolled in our Kenyan network. At this event, each team will present a 24-minute multimedia summary of the projects they developed and implemented in various parts of Kenya throughout the year.  The SIFE Kenya National Champion will proceed to the SIFE World Cup event to be held in Paris France in September 11-13, 2006. National champions from over 45 countries will be competing.
