An all Zambia national day of prayer and fasting was held last Sunday to among other issues, petition God to reverse factors that caused the national currency, the kwacha, to plummet against the dollar by a record 45 percent in 2015.
Thomas Sowell In his book "A Conflict of Visions: Ideological Origins of Political Struggles" points out two major types of vision: the constrained and unconstrained. The constrained vision holds that human nature is limited intellectually and morally and will requires intervention from society or external force to put it on "track." In the unconstrained vision, human nature is viewed to have potential far beyond what is presently manifested and only society and external forces can limit such potential.
Zambia has prayed. The nation must now get back to work and use its bright minds driven by the unconstrained vision to analyze the human hand in its socioeconomic woes and be proactive in addressing them.
