Government leaders from across Africa have just concluded their meeting in Nairobi to discuss digital transformation on the continent. The conference was hosted by technology giant Microsoft. Digital transformation doubtlessly offers great hope for Africa in sectors such as agriculture, health, justice, transport, finance, education, environment, and culture, among others.
It is important that Africa stops being superficial, addresses the threats and opportunities offered by the digital revolution, ceases remaining a mere consumer of digital products and platforms and graduates to the ownership of such platforms and products. It is by doing this that Africa shall truly be an equal partner in steering the digital agenda discourse.
