Published on 1st May 2018

Kenya is losing Sh 150 billion worth of food to waste despite intensity of work and colossal cost of production. This has partly informed Inter Region Economic Network's launch of the IREN Technologies and Innovations Challenge-2018 (ITIC2018) for 13 counties that form Kenya's Lake Region Economic Bloc, in partnership the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, East Africa.

The ITIC-2018 Challenge is the Fourth edition of the on-going IREN focus on food security. It will facilitate the formation of County- based Solution Hubs that will take participants through the processes of identifying a challenge, developing technology and innovation solutions and pitching to financiers.

Entries are expected from (individuals (aged 18 years and above who reside in the Lake region economic basin counties). IREN also welcomes Institutions and established companies that showcase scalable food security compatible technologies and innovations to participate in the final ITIC-2018 Trade Fair to be held later in November 2018.
